Before purchasing a camper

Meteorviaggi takes pleasure in answering all your questions. We understand that the purchase of a new camper is an important matter, and doubts and concerns are normal. This is why we are pleased to provide the following information, which we hope will help clarify matters, and gain your trust in our professional services.

Let's start with the purchase of new campers. The price given for all vehicles is for a turnkey solution: namely the cost of the motorhome plus transport costs, costs for putting the vehicle on the road and registering it, but not a Euro more. In accordance with European law, each vehicle is supplied with a two-year warranty.
Second-hand vehicles, on the other hand, are checked, cleaned and provided with a card specifying the year of registration, the last MOT, accessories, mechanics and certified mileage, before being displayed for sale. We offer a one-year warranty for these vehicles on waterproofing, as long as all MOTs have been carried out appropriately. The customer pays for the change of ownership.

We can now take a look at the actual act of purchase. First and foremost, you will need to sign a legal purchase agreement, specifying the model and sales price if buying a new vehicle, or the number plate, model, mileage and year of first registration, for a second-hand vehicle. A deposit must be paid to confirm the agreement. Naturally, should you choose to back out of the agreement, this will be withheld. For purchase, we will need a self-certification, a photocopy of a document proving your identity, and your tax code. If you are looking to benefit from our finance arrangements, you will need to fill in and sign a specific application form.

Vehicles are delivered plated and with a waybill valid for 4 months, meaning you can get on the road straightaway, throughout the whole of the EU. The log book and certificate of ownership will be posted to your home at a later date.
Second hand vehicles will be provided with a permit for road use. You will only pay the costs for transfer of ownership once you have received the certificate of ownership and the log book in your name. Our technicians will, of course, explain exactly how the vehicle works and how to use all the on-board instruments and accessories. We also provide you with an assistance network you can contact whilst travelling, with a telephone number answered 24 hours a day.

Once bought, 'maintaining' a camper is not particularly costly. Tax costs 0.50 € per kW or 0.35 € per HP. Insurance varies according to the company chosen. An MOT must be carried out within 4 years of the initial registration, and then once every two years, as for cars.
